VERSE

Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

We chose this verse because if we teach our children to fear God and shun evil, they will gradually possess the capacity to discriminate as they are growing up. Thus, we do not worry whether our children will be deceived or walk the wrong path even though we are not at their side. If we do not guide our children to choose the right direction in life, they will quickly walk the wrong path. Leaders aspires to ensure that after every child grows up and goes on their path, they will not follow the world's path.

Training your child means teaching them responsible behavior and self-control. With appropriate and consistent discipline, your child will learn about consequences and taking responsibility for their actions. The ultimate aim is to encourage the child to learn to manage both their feelings and behavior.

Things to remember:

  • Discipline is not another word for punishment.

  • Disciplining your child means teaching them responsible behavior and self-control.

  • Pace the discipline of your child with your child’s capacity to understand.
