Learning and doing
Hands-on activities and play help reinforce learning concepts in concrete, age-appropriate ways.

Preschool at LICSM · Ages 3–5
Preschool at LICSM gives young children a focused morning of learning, play, movement, relationships, and faith—helping them grow in independence and prepare for the years ahead.
A purposeful morning
A Preschool morning at LICSM balances academic learning with hands-on activities, physical movement, guided interaction, music, and play. Children experience different ways of learning rather than spending the morning only at a desk.
Hands-on activities and play help reinforce learning concepts in concrete, age-appropriate ways.
Gross-motor movement, music, and movement give children active ways to participate.
Guided interaction, free play, individual work, and partner work help children experience different ways of learning.
Learning through doing
Preschool learning may include play, movement, hands-on work, individual activities, working with a partner, guided interaction, and appropriate outdoor activity. Each offers another way for children to participate, practise, and make sense of what they are learning.

Christian foundation
LICSM Preschool is grounded in Christian values reflected in routines, lessons, activities, and the way children are guided each day. With BJU Press as the curricular foundation, the goal is not only readiness for Grade School, but also the beginning of Christ-like character.
Confidence and independence
Starting school can feel different for every child. Teachers do not force children to interact before they are ready. They create meaningful opportunities to participate, model positive social interaction, gently encourage involvement, and allow confidence and independence to develop over time.
Growing practical capability in everyday school routines.
Learning to participate, make choices, and do more with confidence.
Building foundations for the academic and social rhythms ahead.
Beginning to practise kindness, responsibility, respect, and faith.
Parent involvement
During Academic Week, Preschool parents may take part in classroom learning by leading a lesson. Children enjoy seeing their parent become their teacher for a day, while families gain another way to connect with their child’s school experience.
Fun Friday
Fun Friday gives children another regular opportunity to experience school beyond the usual academic routine.
Preparing for what comes next
LICSM Preschool aims to help children develop independence, practical life skills, confidence, readiness for Grade School, positive interactions with others, and Christ-like character.
Experience Preschool
Families are welcome to visit the school. Preschool sit-ins may also be arranged by appointment, subject to scheduling and availability.
Preschool admissions
Preschool applicants complete the required admissions documents and participate in a readiness assessment and parent conversation as part of the admissions process. The assessment helps LICSM understand the child’s readiness and needs; it is not simply a pass-or-fail examination. Admission remains subject to the school’s admissions review.
